The Lodge Wadjemup Worker Accommodation
Overview
Rottnest Island Authority has issued conditional approval to develop accommodation to support operations at the redeveloped The Lodge Wadjemup, addressing a critical need for housing workers, particularly during peak seasons.
The worker accommodation project is separate from the development of The Lodge Wadjemup's visitor accommodation and is essential to support the 24/7 operations of the facilities and amenities.
The worker accommodation will be developed in two stages and will provide housing and communal facilities for up to 102 occupants. The development is part of RIA's broader strategy under the Rottnest Island Management Plan 2023-28 to facilitate additional worker housing to support proposed new visitor accommodation operations. The project's location in the Thomson Bay Settlement Area is strategically chosen to align with Management Plan objectives.
