Stay Rottnest Accommodation Open Days
Stay Rottnest accommodation bookings open monthly, nine months in advance, on special days called Open Days
Part of improving the visitor experience on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island is ensuring there is a variety of accommodation options. Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) manages Stay Rottnest, which includes self-contained, dormitory and campground accommodation options.
To manage equity of access to Stay Rottnest accommodation options, an Open Day is held every month.
What are Open Days?
We want our accommodation booking system to be as fair and equitable as possible. So rather than having accommodation options open for booking all year round, we release availability for Stay Rottnest one month at a time, nine months in advance of the next booking period.
When are Open Days held?
Open Days are held on the first Wednesday of each month, to release availability for the next booking period, nine months in advance.
Visit the Stay Rottnest website to see all current scheduled Open Day dates.
How Open Days work
Bookings for accommodation can be made online or by phone from 8:30 am on the nominated Open Day.
Simply head to stayrottnest.com or call 1800 111 111.
When you do, you’ll join a virtual queue. Then when your time comes, you’ll have the opportunity to book your accommodation for that month.
If you access the website before the opening time, you’ll be assigned a random place in the queue once bookings open. If you get there after 8:30 am, you’ll join at the back of the queue.

No. To combat the rise of reselling accommodation bookings, we instituted a change that means that the original guest will remain as the owner of the Open Day booking.
However, the owner can nominate another person as authorised to check in to their island accommodation.
This way the original guest’s details will remain on the booking, and they’ll be liable for any costs related to the accommodation for the duration of their booking. This may include damage, cleaning fees or charges related to the behaviour of the guests staying within the accommodation.
Yes, however the Primary Guest / Keyholder for your booking must be 18 years of age or older and stay overnight in the accommodation through the term of the booking.
