T Jetty closed from 19 July for refurbishment
Rottnest Island’s T Jetty on the north side of the Main Jetty will be closed for refurbishment works from 19 July.
The works, part of Rottnest Island Authority’s asset management program, are expected to take four weeks, dependent on weather conditions. The works will not impact pedestrian access on the Main Jetty.
RIA has engaged Shorewater Marine to undertake the works which will include sandblasting and painting of rusted steel members and piles, pile wrapping and installation of cathodic protection to extend the life of the structure. Some minor repairs to the concrete abutment, timber decking and ladders will also be carried out.
Shorewater Marine will operate from the water side of the jetty with their barge vessel and the entry to the jetty will be closed to public access during the works.
The T Jetty will be encapsulated during the sandblasting and environmental controls will be in place. Vessels will not be able to access the T Jetty during the site works and a clearance zone will be maintained around the site on the water side.
