Rottnest Island Authority’s accommodation bookings change from Wednesday 1 March 2023 with Stay Rottnest no longer accepting in-person bookings at Rottnest Island Authority Fremantle office or the island Visitor Centre on Open Days.
Going forward, all accommodation bookings can be made:

  1. Online at Stay Rottnest
  2. By phone on (+61) 1800 111 111 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, excluding public holidays)
Making new bookings or changing existing bookings will still be possible at the Visitor Centre on the island, excluding Open Days.

This is part of an ongoing review of Stay Rottnest booking terms and conditions to improve customer experience and consider guest feedback. This change follows previous improvements including the reduced deposit requirement, decrease in cancellation charges and update to transfer conditions.

Booking online is the quickest and easiest way to secure Stay Rottnest accommodation and receive instant confirmation. As demand for bookings is high, a virtual queuing system is used to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. On average, around 85% of successful bookings are made online on busy Open Days.

RIA recognises that not all customers may be comfortable with online booking or may not have access to the internet. To ensure that all customers receive the same level of support and assistance as they would in person, additional resources will be allocated to our call centre for popular Open Days. The Stay Rottnest team will be available to help customers with any queries or concerns and guide them through the booking process.

RIA is committed to providing Stay Rottnest customers with the best possible service and support during this transition. For questions or detailed assistance about the booking process, contact the Stay Rottnest team.

With the significant increase in demand for Stay Rottnest bookings, it is important that all customers have the same opportunity to access island accommodation and that it is fair and equitable for all.

We understand that the change may seem sudden, but we would like to assure you that it is similar to changes that are being made by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions for its campsites. Just like the Department, Stay Rottnest is moving towards a more streamlined and efficient booking process that prioritises equality of access and convenience of our customers.

We are committed to providing you with the best possible customer service and support during this transition. As such, we have allocated additional resources to our call centre to ensure that our team is able to assist you promptly and efficiently, and are confident that our Online Booking System will continue to be stable under the large increase in demand.
Stay Rottnest would like to assure you that we have previously put measures in place to ensure that the new booking site is stable and reliable. However, in the unlikely event that the website does experience technical difficulties due to high demand, we want to reassure you that we will assess any technical issues that occur and ensure that customers will have fair access to island accommodation, regardless of how they book.

In the event Stay Rottnest experiences technical difficulties, dependant on the forecasted downtime, the Open Day may be delayed or rescheduled for another date, and affected customers will be notified of this change.

We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, but we believe that it is important to have a plan in place to manage any unforeseen issues that may arise. We want to assure you that the team work diligently in the lead up to all Open Days to ensure the stability and reliability of the booking site, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible booking experience.
If you encounter any difficulties while making your booking on any day of the year, our friendly team is always available to help. You can contact the team via email at [email protected] or call on (+61) 1800 111 111.
