Consultation is now open for the proposed development of worker accommodation on the island
The proposed worker accommodation development, managed by RIA, is a key component of the Rottnest Island Management Plan 2023–28, which aims to address the critical shortage of staff housing that currently limits business growth and impacts visitor service quality.
This project is designed to enable island businesses to attract staff and operate beyond ferry schedules, thereby supporting the island's growing visitor operations and enhancing overall visitor experiences.
Recognising the importance of worker accommodation in sustaining a successful tourism industry, the Western Australian State Government has committed $98.5 million to this multi-stage development program.
The proposed plans are available for viewing during the comment period at:
- RIA’s website at ria.wa.gov.au/developments
- RIA’s offices at 1 Mews Road, Fremantle between the hours of 8.30 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday
