Hire a Pen or Mooring
Nothing can compare to experiencing a night by one of the bays along Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. Whether you’re looking to book something last-minute, or need to reserve facilities 100 days in advance, there are a number of offshore swing moorings, jetty and beach pens available.
How boat pens work
Choose from a variety of different depths (from 8-40 metres) for overnight hire (10 am-10 am) across Thomson Bay, Geordie Bay, and Longreach Bay.
Reservations and marine hire facilitates are available using our online booking system.
Have a look at our moorings map (PDF 486KB) to see the locations around each bay.
Skippers will need to bring their own mooring lines. There is a limited supply of fresh water available at both Thomson and Geordie Bay, and power available at the Fuel Jetty in Thomson Bay.
There are pens for hire on the jetties in Thomson Bay. Note: the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) is replacing mooring pylons. Also, we don’t recommend using the jetty pens when winds exceed 25 knots.
25 beach pens are available for hire in north Thomson Bay, for vessels up to 7.5 metres with a very shallow draft. A map of locations can be found on the Marine Maps and Resources page.
Hire a Swing Mooring
Plenty of Rottnest Island mooring hires are available, with 33 in Thomson Bay (8-40 metre vessels), four in Geordie Bay (8-40 metre vessels), and four in Longreach Bay (12-14 metre vessels).
