Implementation of new and consistent directional and informational signage that is both pedestrian and cyclist friendly will assist to orientate and direct visitors to Rottnest as they explore the Island’s many attractions.

Project description

The new signage will address a key initiative within the Rottnest Island Management Plan (RIMP) 2020-2024 to enhance the visitor experience by orientating and directing visitors to and from Island destinations and enhance the character of the Island.

The initial focus will be on the Settlement Area and will complement the Island Gateway project, as well as enhancing signage and the interpretation of the Island’s natural and cultural heritage offerings.

Project key features

The new signage will be both pedestrian and cyclist friendly and seek to significantly improve visitor experience by:

  • Helping visitors find their way,
  • Promoting a pedestrian-friendly environment,
  • Linking uses, destinations, and districts, and
  • Enhancing the island’s identity.
