Wadjemup Hill
The revitalisation of the Wadjemup Hill Lighthouse precinct includes minor upgrades to further reveal the outstanding natural and built heritage features of the area.
Project description
Wadjemup Hill is a key attraction on Rottnest Island (Wadjemup), with visitors able to experience spectacular 360-degree views from guided tours of Wadjemup Lighthouse. The precinct includes the State Heritage Listed Lighthouse Keepers Cottage and WWII defence heritage built-forms such as the Battery Observation Post and Signal Tower.
Revitalisation of the Wadjemup Hill Lighthouse precinct is identified in the Rottnest Island Management Plan 2020-24 as a key initiative. This project is designed to enhance visitor experiences available at Wadjemup Hill and upgrades to visitor facilities to further reveal to visitors the outstanding natural and built heritage features of the hill.
Project key features
Key features of the project may include:
- Landscaping improvements
- Upgrade of toilets to meet increasing visitor demand,
- Electrical infrastructure upgrade works to Wadjemup Hill, and
- Heritage conservation works to the Battery Observation Post.
