Where to view documents

The proposed plans are available for inspection at the:

  • Rottnest Island Authority offices located at the ‘E Shed’ in Fremantle during the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm; and,
  • Rottnest Island Visitors Centre during the hours of 7.30am and 5.00pm.

Submission of Comments

Comments on the proposal must be submitted to the Rottnest Island Authority in writing preferably by email to on or before Sunday, 6 August 2017.

If you require further space to write your submission, please attach additional pages to the enclosed form. Please be advised that upon request, the content of your submission will be made available to the applicant to provide the opportunity for the applicant to respond to the issues raised in any submission. Personal details such as names, telephone numbers and addresses will be removed.

Please note all comments received will be summarised and presented to the Rottnest Island Authority Board. All persons and organisations that made a submission during the comment process will be informed in writing of the Rottnest Island Authority’s determination and this will generally occur within 30 days of the Development Application being determined.

Community Information Session

A ‘Community Information Session’ will be held on Wednesday, 26 July 2017 between 4.30pm and 6.00pm in the Maritime Museum Boardroom located on the first floor of the Maritime Museum in Fremantle. Access is via the main entry on the first floor.

Assessment Process

Please be aware that only a preliminary assessment has been undertaken on this proposal and no determination by the Rottnest Island Authority has been made. Upon consolation of the consultation period submissions will be collated and the application will be formally assessed.

The Rottnest Island Authority Board are the decisions makers for this development application. All submitters will be notified of a decision within 30 days of a determination being made.

What does the application propose?

When are submissions due on the Development Application?

Why Pinky Beach?

The Pinky Beach development site was identified in September 2015 and the Rottnest Island Authority undertook Expressions of Interest for the development of the site. The current applicant was identified as the preferred developer.

Will access to Pinky Beach and the Basin remain?

Yes, all the current access ways to Pinky Beach and the Basin will remain. The proposal provides two additional access points to Pinky Beach and one additional access point to the Basin via raised boardwalks.
