In 2014, Rottnest Island Authority contributed $2,800 worth of accommodation, bike equipment and tours plus staff time for a Smith Family camp of 20 students and 4 teachers. The Rottnest Island Chamber of Commerce also supported this community initiative through the provision of meals and activities.

Supporting Breast Cancer Care WA and the McGrath Foundation since 2015

In 2015, Rottnest Fast Ferries and Rottnest Island Authority supported the "Buying Time" campaign, designed to raise much needed funds for Breast Cancer Care WA and the McGrath Foundation. Throughout April and May, Rottnest Fast Ferries provided island visitors with discount return ferry fares, in which $1 from every ticket was donated towards the Buying Time Campaign.

Rottnest Express Sponsorship of the Wadjemup Walk Trail Project

In 2015, Rottnest Express sponsored 443 return ferry fares for volunteers from 6 Community Groups to come to Rottnest and complete tasks associated with revegetation for the Walk Trail project. These volunteers contributed 4940.5 hours of in-kind labour to plant 6,865 trees and conduct tree guard installation & maintenance. Funds saved through utilising volunteer support and not having to pay ferry fares to get the volunteers to the Island means more money could go directly into building the Trail itself!

In 2016, Rottnest Express sponsored 390 return ferry fares for volunteers. These volunteers contributed 3,326 hours of in-kind labour to revegetate Rottnest Island through plant propagation, tree guard maintenance, tree planting (10,300 seedlings), sand dune stabilisation and sea spurge weeding.

Thank you to Rottnest Express for their generous support of this significant conservation initiative and also to the community groups who contribute their time to help!
