'Those of you who live there, I envy you': Nigella Lawson's high praise for WA

Nigella Lawson envious of West Australians

Locals might complain about poor merging skills and soaring temperatures, but a sultry UK celebrity chef had nothing but praise for Western Australia following an appearance at Margaret River's Gourmet Escape food festival.

Nigella Lawson wrapped up her trip to WA with a gushing blog post, where she praised the experience to her legion of followers.
"Where to start? 1) Margaret River, in Western Australia is unbelievably beautiful, and 2) the Gourmet Escape is a quite astonishing food festival," she wrote.
"It's not just about the setting – though that helps – but there was such a sense of community, a warmth and friendliness from both the chefs and the festival-goers that I return inspired and elated.
"If any of you get the chance to go to Western Australia, you'll understand why I am so enthusiastic about it, and those of you who actually live there, I envy you."
Lawson shared her experiences of Rottnest Island, Bunker Bay, Castle Bay Beach and Cullen Winery with her more than 2 million Twitter and Instagram followers.
While in WA, Lawson also got a taste of top Thai eatery Long Chim, and stayed at five-star luxury hotel Cape Lodge.
"It was just so magical, from the scenery, the fact that I arrived on the night of the Supermoon (a good sign, obviously!), the making of new friends, drinking rainwater, and even getting a baby kangaroo to cuddle - and I'm not usually the sweet little furry animals kind of a person!" she said.
The UK celebrity is no stranger to the delicacies of WA, taking a shine to Wilyabrup winery Cullen in January and sharing her own gourmet escape experience with her Instagram followers.
Lawson fell in love with Cullen's Amber wine, a semillon/sauvignon blanc blend from the winery's certified biodynamic vineyards.
Cullen Winery co-owner Vanya Cullen said at the time the feedback from Lawson was great exposure for them.
Lawson was one of the major drawcards of the 2016 Margaret River Gourmet Escape, which ran from November 18-20, with her event, 'An Audience with Nigella Lawson' at Voyager Estate selling out.
