Rottnest Hotel overhaul biggest in its 150-year history
Approval has been granted for the biggest expansion of Hotel Rottnest in its 150-year history with 80 villas to be built, many with private plunge pools.
A signed heads of agreement will allow the Prendiville Group to build the poolside resort, spa and function centre on 8800sqm of vacant land behind and south of the existing hotel.
The State Government also agreed to extend the group’s lease on the site by 50 years to 2087.
The building was originally constructed from 1858 as the official summer residence of the WA Governor. It was converted to holiday accommodation in 1919 and, in 1953, opened as a hotel.
