Karma group unveils plans for $20 million Rottnest Island resort

“BAREFOOT luxury” is the inspiration behind a $20 million lakeside resort set to open on Rottnest Island in 2018.

Karma Group today unveils in The Sunday Times its detailed plan to transform the Rottnest Lodge into a timber resort by a salt lake near Thompson Bay.

Construction of the resort, which will have 15 two-storey villas and 60 one-bedroom hotel units, starts next year subject to environmental approval.

A series of boardwalks will connect a big sundeck to the accommodation, with the elevated two-bedroom villas set back from water and nestled among treetops.

The resort will feature a welcome centre, Singapore-style tea room, Bavarian beer garden, restaurants, function rooms, kids club, spa and a church for weddings.

By the lake there will also be a gym, lounge bar, infinity pool and a two-level boat house for pilates and yoga classes, plus a pop-up bar.
