Challenge your creative self

Challenge your creative self

Rottnest Island Authority is providing a unique opportunity for artists to work in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of Rottnest Island.

Join fellow creatives on a three day retreat in August where you will be inspired to create your own masterpiece, with the help of local artist Ken Wadrop.
Rottnest Island Aurthority Artist Retreat organiser Patsy Vizents said Rottnest Island is an ideal retreat for artists.
“There are many talented people living in and around Perth who deserve to escape the frenetic demands of city life and get lost in their artistic process,” she said.
“You’ll be surrounded by Rottnest Island’s extraordinary beauty and be guided by provided by a professional artist – it really is your perfect winter getaway.”
“We welcome both budding and established artists to immerse themselves in the natural world of Rottnest Island and find their unique creative expression.”

What last year’s artists had to say:
• I felt liberated!  Nothing mattered... No cars, few people, we were encouraged to tackle this new skill head on.  I, for one, did, and doing so has benefitted not just my art practices, but my whole view of self.
• The most memorable parts of the retreat was spending time with like-minded people and experiencing Rottnest when it was so quiet and peaceful. I have never been to Rottnest in the winter and it was very special.
• I wanted to paint in the open air and also to study the sky and the sea. Rottnest was perfect and being winter, the sky was ever changing. My paintings are not master pieces but a great learning exercise.
