Adopt a quokka to aid conservation

This newspaper has adopted a quokka and called it Matilda.

The adoption certificate says Matilda is 40-54cm long and weighs between 2.7kg and 4.2kg.
The Rottnest Island Authority initiative raises money for the conservation of the Island's heritage sites and the quokka.
RIA Customer Service manager Alanna Cooper said the adoption concept was also an educational tool, particularly for young people and tourists.
“It’s important people don't touch them or feed them human food... these are two big problems with the quokkas,” she said.
