Rottnest Running Festival one of the World's Best Races
The Rottnest Running Festival has been listed as one of the top 41 races in the world in the latest Runners World UK magazine.
Here’s what they had to say:
Rottnest Island Half
Rotto’, as it’s known, lies just off the coast of Perth, Australia. This four-lapper will take you around the salt lakes in the middle of the island, and if you can’t hear the lone bagpiper throughout, it means you’ve probably wandered off course.
Using gels? Dispose of them carefully, as they’re a health risk to the Quokka, a small wallaby native to the island.
The Rottnest Marathon (42.195km) and accompanying 21.1km, 10km and 5km fun run is organised by the West Australian Marathon Club with the event proceeds being donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The Association of International Marathons accredited event attracted 969 runners in 2016 and we are hoping for even more runners on the Island for this year’s race on 22 October.
