New accommodation and entertainment to usher in Rotto renaissance
The Minister for Tourism made several big announcements today about upgrades to the accommodation offerings on the Island.
In the morning, he announced approval for a significant upgrade to Hotel Rottnest, which will add 80 new rooms and nearly double in size from 9,000sqm to 17,8000sqm.
The new resort-style offerings are expected to open in spring 2020 and will include four pools (two main pools are two plunge pools for executive suites), a restaurant, function room for 250 (seated) or 400 (cocktail) and roof-top bar.
Food and beverage service at Hotel Rottnest will continue during development.
The Minister also announced the development of a luxury day spa at Karma Lodge, which will be located in the heart of the Settlement.
Finally, the Minister marked imminent construction of the Discovery Eco Village with a sod-turning ceremony.
The development near iconic Pinky Beach will include 83 ecologically sensitive glamping tents and a Beach Club comprising a licenced bar, café, restaurant and function area.
Bookings for the new Eco Village will open in coming months.
Minister Papalia said: “The Island is changing, with each new offering creating jobs and opportunities to make sure Rottnest Island remains a world-class, must-visit tourism destination.”
